International Association for Great Lakes Research

International Association for Great Lakes Research is a scientific organization of researchers studying the Laurentian Great Lakes and other large lakes of the world. IAGLR promotes all aspects of large lakes research and communicates research findings through publications and meetings. IAGLR strives to communicate the latest research findings to a diversity of audiences including government, scientists, students, recreational users, industry, business, the media and various interest groups. IAGLR publishes the Journal of Great Lakes Research quarterly and conducts an annual scientific conference. Through a grant from the Joyce Foundation to improve communication between Great Lakes scientists and policy-makers, IAGLR has established a Science-Policy Advisory Board; is building a web based directory of IAGLR scientists and researchers to answer questions from policymakers; is converting all back issues of the Journal of Great Lakes Research into an electronic format for the association's web site; and is developing advice for strengthening the science-policy linkage for the Great Lakes in the future.
