Project Abstract: In this project, Michigan State University (MSU) will provide technical assistance to members of the Alliance of National Heritage Areas to help develop standard procedures for measuring the number and types of visitors to heritage areas and their local economic impact. The MGM2 model will be adapted for use by Alliance members. MSU will help Alliance members in designing and implementing the procedures to include development of survey instruments, guidance on sampling and data collection strategies, assistance with data analysis, application of MGM2 models, and help in interpreting and communicating results. Visitor surveys will be performed and other local data will be gathered that may be used in the analysis.
