Project Abstract:

This project will field test and refine multicriteria risk models for the introduction, establishment and spread of ten exotic invasive plant species at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. In addition, new multicriteria risk models will be developed for three invasive ground cover species that are established at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and which pose a threat to native vegetation. This project builds on previous model development for invasive exotic plants and the existence of a substantial dataset that describes the long-term vegetation monitoring plots at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.  The project will also design herbicide efficacy and non-target plant species response studies. Designed, controlled studies will enable optimization of the available resources for management of these weed species.
