| Project Abstract: |
This project provides online implementation of management guidelines and assistance for the pilot study initiated in 2002. The pilot project was designed to understand Corps of Engineers area visitor and community recreation benefit opportunities as well as benefit attainment by visitor and communities. Although the pilot was limited to projects in Illinois, the information obtained and insights collected have national application. This effort works to disseminate insights gleaned from this work with an online interface for the Corps’ Natural Resource Management Gateway. The purpose of this research is to create the content for an online education portal related to recreation benefits for individuals and communities. Objectives include creating a one-stop source for information and benefits based management generally and, in particular, for the Corps of Engineers projects; and to create an interactive management application where managers and other Corps staff can identify benefit opportunities at their site and optimal management strategies for benefit attainment. |
